What is Reflexology?
Reflexology
Reflexology is a non-invasive, complimentary therapy that has been practiced for centuries across the world. It has even been cited as a therapy used in ancient Egypt and China.
The practice is based on the principle that we have points in our hands, feet, ears and face which correspond to all the organs and glands in our body. By applying specific pressure to these areas, it is possible to restore balance to your body and mind and offer you a deep sense of relaxation.
Reflexology can:
Help to reduce stress and tension
Increase blood supply and improve circulation
Help to rid the body of toxins
Activate the body’s own healing mechanism to restore balance within
Anecdotally, many of my patients have found it helps:
Improve sleep quality
Reduce digestive discomfort
Ease headaches and migraine intensity
Improve symptoms of menopause
Aid in a deep sense of relaxation
Reduce back pain
Help to ease pregnancy discomfort
Who can have Reflexology?
Anyone of any age can have reflexology treatments. However, there are some times when patients should not be treated. This includes, during early pregnancy, if a patient has a foot injury, an open wound to the foot or blood clotting issues such as thrombosis or embolism.
If you would like further information regarding whether you can receive treatment, please call me for a free 15 minute telephone consultation and we can discuss this together.
The below diagram demonstrates the reflex points in our feet and the organs to which they correspond. By performing reflexology massage on these reflex points, we aim to bring harmony and balance to the body and mind.
